چکیده

Wear resistance of dynamic system components is a major challenge in aeronautics. According the usage aircraft, off-centred loads can appear on shafts when rotating bodies are unbalanced. In literature, most wear studies applied to plain bearing consider static centred contact area. This article presents study submitted order look for better mastering service life their severe aeronautic conditions. Boussinesq's equations were used compute pressure distribution and Archard's law was calculate wear. The coefficients running-in stable stages defined experimentally. evolution over time maximum depth size zone validated with experimental results. perspective this work feed digital twins systems predict according aircraft usage.

Internal Loading Distribution in Statically Loaded Ball Bearings Subjected to a Centric Thrust Load: Numerical Aspects

A known iterative computational procedure is used for internal normal ball loads calculation in statically loaded single-row, angular-contact ball bearings, subjected to a known thrust load, which is applied in the inner ring at the geometric bearing center line. Numerical aspects of the iterative procedure are discussed. Numerical examples results for a 218 angular-contact ball bearing have be...

Measurement of Wear in Radial Journal Bearings

In this article, the measurement of wear i n radial journal bearings is discussed, where a distinction is made between stationa y and non-stationa y contact conditions. Starting with Holm/ArchardS wear law, equations are derived for the calculation of the specific wear rate k of the bearing material as afunction of the wear depth d, measured after an experiment or a period of use i n practice. ...

Electrostatic wear monitoring of rolling element bearings

Research and development work at the University of Southampton using an electrostatic condition monitoring system developed by Smiths Aerospace Information Systems has shown that electrostatic charge signals can be used to detect the onset of wear in lubricated tribo-contacts. Preliminary investigations have already demonstrated the viability of this system when tested on a laboratory-based pin...

Experiment and Numerical Study of Wear in Cross Roller Thrust Bearings

Bearings are essential parts used in machine tools where high precision is required. It is important to understand bearing failure in order to replace a bearing before it affects the quality of precision. Bearing failure appears as a run-out in some applications, which is a critical factor for precision. However, previous studies have only focused on failure mechanisms, such as spalling. In thi...

Analysis of polyethylene wear in plain radiographs

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Two-dimensional computerized radiographic techniques are frequently used to measure in vivo polyethylene (PE) wear after total hip arthroplasty (THA), and several variables in the clinical set-up may influence the amount of wear that is measured. We compared the repeatability and concurrent validity of linear PE wear on plain radiographs using the same software but a diff...
